October 27, 2025
Over the past several weeks, Claridge Court Retirement Community has been making headlines across Kansas City, Missouri, for a groundbreaking initiative that reimagines what aging well can look like, one that brings generations together in harmony.
This innovative partnership between UMKC and Claridge Court provides a graduate student a full year of complimentary room and board in exchange for hosting monthly concerts for the residents. It’s a simple yet powerful concept: music as a bridge between generations, creating shared experiences that enrich both student and resident lives.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Residents enjoy the vibrant energy and fresh perspectives the student brings, while the student gains invaluable insight into the wisdom and warmth of older adults.
The program not only enhances resident satisfaction, it also reflects a growing movement toward more inclusive, intergenerational models of senior living. This program is a shining example of how senior living communities can embrace the full spectrum of life’s dimensions, fostering unity and joy across generations.
