If you’ve ever stepped inside The Waterford, you know it’s not uncommon to see residents participating in fitness programs. Science has long proven the lasting benefits of staying active as we age, and the purpose-driven seniors at the community know that to be true. Thanks to the addition of new equipment and recent renovations, however, staying fit at The Waterford has never looked so good.
“This new fitness center is really about our commitment to residents here,” said Executive Director Scott Nield. “Being able to provide them with high-quality equipment that adds to their potential for a long and healthy retirement is a top priority.”
Activities Director Leenie Holgate echoed Nield’s sentiments.
“Seeing our residents’ faces as they used the new equipment for the first time was such a special experience,” she said. “It’s at the heart of what we do and why it matters.”
The new equipment in the fitness center includes elliptical machines, stationary bikes, treadmills and strength training equipment. The technology features digital message centers for easy programming, tracking of fitness training, and includes a wireless heart rate monitoring system. Flat-screen TV monitors also allow residents to view their favorite programs while exercising.
